The short answer

The cheapest swaps, billed annually: Jobber Core at $29/month for one person, and Kickserv at $60/month for 5 users or $119 for 10. The catch: neither lists service agreements on its pricing page, which Housecall Pro includes on Max.

The 7 alternatives

1. Jobber

From $29/mo (1 user) to $529/mo (15 users), billed annually. GPS tracking and QuickBooks Online sync from Connect ($149 for 5 users). 14-day trial.

2. Kickserv

$60/mo for 5 users, $119 for 10, $199 for 20, billed annually ($75 / $149 / $249 month to month). Run adds dispatch mapping and GPS check-ins. 30-day trial.

3. Service Fusion

Quote-only right now ("Get Demo and Pricing" instead of prices). Its FAQ says unlimited users on every plan, month to month, 15% off annual. Service agreements on Pro or a $149/mo add-on on Plus.

4. Workiz

Quote-only (Standard, Pro, Ultimate). Service plans and sales proposals on Ultimate. 7-day free trial.

5. FieldPulse

Quote-only, seat-based, seats bought for a contract term. Lists maintenance agreements and a pricebook. No free trial.

6. FieldEdge

Quote-only (Select, Premier, Elite) with 2, 4 or 6 mobile licenses. Flat-rate pricebook on every plan; multi-option quotes from Premier. No free trial.

7. ServiceTitan

Quote-only, priced per technician. A consultant on Reddit puts it around $200 to $300 per tech per month and says most add-ons aren't worth the cost. Demo only.

If you need service plans

Recurring service plans (maintenance agreements) are where Housecall Pro gets expensive: they come only with Max, at $299 a month. Of the alternatives with published prices, Jobber and Kickserv don't list service agreements on their pricing pages. The ones that do are all quote-only: Service Fusion (Pro, or a $149/month add-on on Plus), FieldEdge, Workiz (Ultimate), FieldPulse and ServiceTitan.

Ask before you switch

If maintenance agreements drive your revenue, ask the cheaper tools directly whether they support them. "Not listed on the pricing page" isn't the same as "can't do it."

Which to pick

My take, from the prices above:

  • Solo, on a budget: Jobber Core, at $29 vs $59. See Jobber vs Housecall Pro.
  • 5 to 20 people, price first: Kickserv. Its 5-user plan costs less than half of Housecall Pro Essentials, and the 30-day trial gives you time to test it on real jobs.
  • Growing past 10 people: Kickserv Run ($119 for 10, Scale $199 for 20) or Jobber Connect ($229 for 10), billed annually. Service Fusion says every plan has unlimited users, but you'll need a quote.
  • Maintenance agreements are core: stay on Housecall Pro Max, or get quotes from FieldEdge and Workiz.
